Who should take this program?

Committed followers of Christ who desire to become better equipped for cross-cultural ministry. The program may be taken for credit or non-credit.

Who are the cooperative agencies in this program?

Currently the accredited Bible Colleges include:

     Emmanuel Bible College in Kitchener, Ontario
     Heritage College & Seminary in Cambridge, Ontario
     Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, Alberta
     Rocky Mountain College in Calgary, Alberta

The mission agencies include IFMA Canada (Interdenominational Foreign Missions Association), a network of 30 mission agencies and World Partners, the sending arm of the Evangelical Missionary Churches of Canada.

Ethnic churches in the Toronto area will 'adopt' a student and provide opportunities to serve, learn and grow together.

Support churches will provide facility, financial and people resources, and partnering in global ministry endeavors.

What is the Course outline?

Term One: Ethnic Church in Toronto September - December
Participants will be assigned to an ethnic church where they will be exposed to 10-15 hrs of ministry in a cross-cultural context under the supervision of a qualified mentor. During term one participants will take four one week training modules for credit plus the weekly global perspective seminars. Participants will also meet weekly in a spiritual formation cohort.

Heritage Seminary will grant 21 Credit hours towards their two year MTS and a full year (30 credit hours) toward a 3 year M.Div. Heritage & Emmanuel Bible College will grant up to 18 hrs of credit for Term One

• Cross-Cultural Communication (3 Credit hours)
• Urban Realities (3 Credit hours)
• Acts: The Emerging Church (3 Credit hours)
• Interpersonal skills (3 Credit hours)
• Perspectives on Global Mission (3 Credit hours)
• Internship Practicum (3 Credit hours)

Total 18 Credit hours

Term Two: Overseas Internship with Partner Mission January – April
CrossTraining will assist participants to find an overseas ministry assignment with a partner mission. This assignment will expose participants to ministry in a cross-cultural context under the supervision and mentorship of a mature national and missionary. Potential credit for overseas assignment.

• Overseas Ministry Practicum (6 Credits)
• Ethnography (3 Credits)
• Elective ie Language (optional) (3 Credits)

Total 12 Credits

Potential overall credit for full internship Total 30 Credits

Academic Options

• M.Div. from Heritage Seminary (up to 30 credit hours)
• M.T.S. from Heritage Seminary (up to 21 credit hours)
• B.R.E. or B.Th. from Emmanuel Bible College and Heritage College (Up to 30 credit hours)

CrossTraining Certificate Options

One year stand-alone option may be taken for academic credit or as a stand-alone certificate.

Ministry Enhancement Options (Credit or Audit)

Any combination of modular courses or seminars may be taken to enhance global awareness and sharpen intercultural ministry skills.

Tuition Fees

• BRE or Bth with a Missions Major (full-time, academic credit participant)
Tuition = $225/credit hour. 27 credits are required to qualify for the MA Option
27 x $225 = $6075.

• CrossTraining Credits (21 Hours) can be transferred towards an MTS or Mdiv at Heritage Seminary

• One Year Stand-Alone Option (A full-time participant not enrolled in a degree program)
Tuition is $134/credit hour. 27 x $134 = $3618.

• Ministry Enhancement Option (Audit for personal interest)
Tuition = $100/credit hour to audit courses.

Other Potential Costs

• Books: Approximately $400.00

• Toronto Room & Board: The standard student room and board fee in Toronto is $600-700/mth, public transit, phone and other personal costs

• Overseas Room & Board: approximately $2500 (can be paid through donation to partner mission)

• Overseas Airfare: Anywhere from $1500-$2500(can be paid through donation to partner mission)
